Hip Hop is probably in one of it's most interesting spaces we've witnessed since the art form was established back in the late 70's. Who've thought the genres Billboard Chart topping contenders would consists of socially conscious artists like Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole and the always out spoken Kanye West, while hipster college kids would gravitate to more trap influenced entertainers such as Fetty Wap, Shy Glizzy and Gucci Mane.

Looking to bridge the gap between both the conscious and cool, DMV native Jay IDK is currently prepping the release of his highly anticipated debut body of work, SubTrap. #SubTrap, short for Suburban Trap is paradox for trap music with substance. Loosely based on the life of the London born emcee, the forthcoming album gives an unbiased account of life on both sides of the drug game. Personified through the characters: Chris, Jon Jon, Matt, Ed and King Trappy III (pictured on the LP's artwork) who you should already be familiar with if you've listened to the albums 1st single "The Plug", which was liberated back in March via COMPLEX.

Mixed by Delbert Bowers (Yeezus, Long.Live.A$AP, The Marshall Mathers LP2), the projects artwork was crafted by graphic artist Nicky Chulo (GoldLink, Chaz French, REVOLT TV) while production duties were split between in-house instrumentalist Lo-Fi, TDE frequent collaborator Skhyehutch (Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city hymn "I'm Dying of Thirst"), Tobari, GameBrand, The Glitch Mob, Noose, Mister Temptation, The Watcherz and Jay himself.

Watch the Jacob Legaurdia (Last Vegas, Are You Here, Susie's Hope) directed teaser below then head over to iTunes and pre-order your digital copy to be one of the first to experience the well constructed collection of sounds the world will soon know as #SubTrap when it's officially released on August 25th!
