So M.T.G, tell us a little about yourself, where you from?

I’m a songwriter and singer from Chicago, IL. Woodlawn area.

When did you first become interested in music?

I became interested in music when I was 5 years old. I met a guy with dreads and some drums and he let me play on them. I recently found out that guy was Bob Marley’s son Ziggy.

Why the name M.T.G.?

M.T.G. stands for Movin Towards Greatness. I had a friend that passed away in 2010 from a car crash. Heused to tell everyone that he was great at everything.

When it comes to your lyrics, what inspires you?

I picture a movie to the beat when I’m writing and literally will just write out the pictures that I have in my head. It’s crazy how descriptive it comes out.

What do you consider your biggest accomplishment? (In music industry)

My biggest accomplishment so far has been between getting a plaque for a song I did with Tory Lanez or getting my music heard by label presidents.

What do you look for in beats you’re selecting?

The beats that I select have to have a story to them. I hate plain beats or ones you can tell didn’t have any thought into them. It has to flow.

What’s one artist you would want to work with and why?

I would like to work with Chris Brown or 6lack. I listen to those two everyday. It’s guaranteed a hit.

How does it feel when you perform live? Describe your live performance

My live performance is like a party. I’m silly, so I like to mess with people but at the end of the day everybody has fun.

Where exactly do you see yourself at 5 years down the road?

Five years down the road is unpredictable. I can see all good things. I’ve been working on getting into other business opportunities. I want to have land and even my own small plane to fly for fun.

What are your thoughts on how things are going in the music industry right now?

I think the music industry is trash now. Too many people doing the same thing. There’s no originality. It feels like many people just shoot their shot and not actually take the time to make sure it’s good. The messages on the songs are shallow. Unfortunately record companies are backing these songs.

What's the best piece of advice that has been ever given to you?

You don’t have to know the destination. Just know that it’s going to be better than where you started.

Any new projects coming out soon? & what can we expect from this projects?

So right now I am getting ready to release my first song with a big company. There’s been Some labels reaching out. Right now I’m trying to play my cards right. This is the time tho.

Thank you very much for your time M.T.G. Anything else you want to add? How can your fans get in contact with you?

Instagram (itsmtg). I check that thing every hour. My family and friends get irritated because my phone is on Do Not Disturb all the time lol.
