So Q The Key, tell us a little about yourself, where you from? When did you first become interested in music? When did you start rapping?

My name is Q The Key or some just call me Q. I’m from Florida. I first became interested in music from loving to write and seeing how therapeutic music was for me. Growing up on a lot of music especially music that taught me something new and from someone else experience definitely got me hooked. Once I got a little taste of what a music career would one day have to offer, there was no going back. Music allowed me to live for inspiration not only through myself but to others and give them the same push to progress, prosper, understand ups and downs and grow through different times and emotions that life gives us.

Whose music did you grow up on?

I grew up on a lot of different music with Hip Hop being the genre he enjoys most. UGK, OutKast, Tupac and Lil Wayne are some of the artist I grew up listening to.

When it comes to your lyrics, what motivates/inspires you?

When it comes to my lyrics a few motivations come from hearing a beat that catches my ears and gets stuck in my head until I draw on the canvas my thoughts and emotions built inside. The thought of being able to motivate the next person through my lyrics and express myself freely has always been the forefront of what my lyrics construct.

What do you look for in beats you’re selecting?

Choosing beats these days can be a hassle but a lot of times I look for beats that are uptempo, hard hitting and have a catch factor that makes me and the listener want to hear the beat/song over and over again. I love beats that aren’t too complexed for me to lay vocals over.

What do you consider your biggest accomplishment?

I’d say my biggest accomplishment has been starting a business as the CEO of my own music production company called “Quality Key”. Artist wise I’ve been able to build awareness and create the music that I love while gaining industry looks and new fans which has my song Bust A Move streaming pretty well on Spotify currently in the five figure streaming numbers.

Besides music, what other hobbies do you have? Please tell me about your typical day

A typical day for me outside of music is working with troubleshooting phones and sometimes computer equipment. I love watching sports as a hobby to past time. Research and learning new things is something I’m fond of along with staying current with the present and future around the world and music.

How does it feel when you perform live? Describe your live performance

With my new music, I’ve never performed live but I’ve been on stage in previous times when I use to do music in the past. It always feels good to see and hear people’s reaction to your art. One day it would be cool to hear the crowd reciting my song and knowing it as well as I do or perhaps even better so that I know my words resonate with them as fans.

What are your plans for longevity in this business of music?

My plans for longevity in the business of music is to put out consistent quality music and to sustain a 3-5 year music career minimum while branching my business into a commerce in the music business to help other artist once I’m more established as a brand. In a idea world I’d love to build a strong team and grow as an independent artist.

If you could work with one person who would it be?

If I could work with one person it would be Kendrick Lamar.

Thank you very much for your time Q The Key. Anything else you want to add? How can your fans get in contact with you?

I recently dropped a new single called “Bust A Move” that will get you up and moving from start to finish. This song is easily relatable and is a dope tune to dance to and move through out anytime of the day with.
