Mikhail Stukov

Mikhail Stukov: So P8e, tell us a little about yourself, where your from? When did you first become interested in music? When did you start rapping?

P8e: I started music very early. I was playing drums at 4, piano at 9 and guitar by 11. I Started recording my own music on cassette 4 tracks around 15.  I then started rapping around 17 years old.

Mikhail Stukov: What prompted you to make a career out of rap? How you incorporated the name P8e

P8e: Rapping is one of many tools i use to get my creativity out. Sometimes I feel like making an accoustic mellow song.. Sometimes I'm inspired to make a rap song. Every song has its own vibe and a time and place for it. The name P8e came from my original name. Wich was just Pat spelled P.A.T.. and when I heard that fast in a rhyme i could hear p8e. I thought it made a cool logo and it kind of just stuck

Mikhail Stukov: When it comes to your lyrics, what motivates/inspires you ?

P8e: Kush. Starwars. Mandy's tits... I love to play with words and rhythms more than getting too deep with lyrical content. But there are a few serious tracks on my up and coming album

Mikhail Stukov: What do you look for in beats you’re selecting?

P8e: Most of my current tracks are self produced. So if I'm making a beat and I absolutely love it, I will keep it to write to.  My upcoming project has some of my favorite canadian producers on it. Such as Burdxkeyz, 2oolman and Chef Byer. I was very fortunate to be able to pick from theyre reserves and find music that was different from mine, yet suited the project

Mikhail Stukov: Besides music what other hobbies do you have? Please tell me about your typical day

P8e: Mostly just music. I wake up get coffee. Smoke... Hit the lab and make beats and or work on production for clients. Once I get hungry enough to stop what im doing I'll hit up the local burger n fries truck (shout out niko).  Then repeat until my eyes hurt from mac screens and kush smoke.
Mikhail Stukov: What do you consider your biggest accomplishment?

P8e: I'm very proud of my musical accomplishments, but have many more to achieve, I got to play guitar and bass on SonReal "One Long Day". That def is up there. He is a super talented dude!

Mikhail Stukov: What are your thoughts on how things are going in the music industry right now?

P8e: It goes both ways. It's super over saturated with a lot of the same shit. Dudes saying what they think they should say for a play and some pay....But theres a niche and an artist for everyone. The trick now is getting the right content to the right audience. I love oldschool boombap like black moon. And newschool boombap like marco polo. But I also like the top 40 and trap stuff where producers push sounds and production. So I like this new music industry being very web based. I can really dig for the music i want.
Ive seen artists with smaller loyal fan bases do really well with touring and merch, and its very inspiring. But I dont expect to make a mill off itunes sales this year!

Mikhail Stukov: What are your plans for longevity in this business of music ?

P8e: Business or no business I always have played and created music. And I always will. If I can continue to feed my fam and buy starwars shit im golden!

Mikhail Stukov: What’s one artist you would want to work with and why ?

P8e: To pick one is super tough.. Tyler the creator would rule.. Id prob wanna play all live instruments and make some wierd shit. Like the black sabbath sounding harmonized guitars off track one on cherry bomb. But I get dibs on doing the mix Tyler!!  Haha. Jk

Mikhail Stukov: Thank you very much for your time P8e. Anything else you want to add? How can your fans get in contact with you?
