Bristol soul singer Scarlett Fagan releases "Awaken," the A-side of the 7" single "Awaken" b/w "Arise," produced by Endemic Emerald, alongside the official music video directed by 12 Jewels Productions. London-born and raised partly in Devon, Scarlett Fagan is a soul and jazz vocalist and songwriter who fronted The Hawkmen, the band blending rockabilly, Northern Soul, and R&B whose tracks appeared on two Craig Charles' Funk & Soul Club compilations and whose 12" vinyl singles were released on Italian, German, and French labels. She released her debut solo album Conscious in 2022 on Canvas Entertainment, produced by Matthew Dyer, a ten-track soul, jazz, and R&B collection including "Booze & Coffee," "Sugar," "Diva," "Security," "Make Your Move," "Meant To Be," "Try It," "Scarlett's Blues," "Used," and "Conscious." Scarlett Fagan sold out her debut solo show at Green Note in Camden, sold out subsequent shows there, was named Richer Unsigned Artist of the Week, and was billed for Soul in the City at The Louisiana in Bristol in June 2025. Endemic Emerald is a NYC-based producer originally from the UK, the first UK hip hop artist to sign to DuckDown Records, with production credits spanning Wu-Tang Clan affiliates, Boot Camp Clik, Roc Marciano, Tragedy Khadafi, Planet Asia, Ruste Juxx, Ill Bill, and Sean Price, and his instrumental LP Renegade Soul was released on No Cure Records. "Awaken" is a horn- and organ-laced break-beat track exploring the move from insecurity toward confidence, backed by "Arise," a meditation on resilience and perseverance. "Awaken" b/w "Arise" is available on 7" vinyl on Unique Soul Records, the retro soul imprint founded by Endemic Emerald with four singers, two from the UK and two from the US, each recording two songs across four planned singles, distributed by Fat Beats and One Nation in the UK.
