Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter and producer Jason Nott has unveiled his new single, “I Was Dating All My Friends”. After nearly two decades of making music with various bands, Jason is venturing into new territory as a solo artist, bringing a fresh yet nostalgic sound that harks back to the pop rock vibes of the ‘90s.

Jason Nott’s musical journey began at the age of 15 when he toured as the guitarist for his high school punk band, Drive A. Throughout the mid-2000s, Drive A shared the stage with bands such as The Used, Third Eye Blind and Papa Roach, achieving significant success with their sophomore album landing on the Billboard charts and a music video in heavy rotation on MTV. Despite their accomplishments, the band eventually disbanded, leaving Jason at a crossroads.

Fortunately, Jason’s story didn’t end there. He found new success as the singer and songwriter for Beachwood Coyotes, whose music was featured on major TV shows such as Shameless and Teen Mom. The band enjoyed nearly a decade of touring until the pandemic put their plans on hold. With the world in lockdown, Jason turned to songwriting. This period of introspection and creativity led to his new solo venture, with music that is both a departure from and a homage to his past work.

“I Was Dating All My Friends” perfectly encapsulates the essence of teenage nostalgia while feeling fresh and contemporary. The track is a vibrant, upbeat anthem that evokes the carefree joy of a summer road trip with friends, windows down and spirits high. Contrasting the lively sound are lyrics that delve into reclaiming self-worth and moving on from unfulfilling relationships. The single is a collaboration with Los Angeles-based producers Rich Zahniser (The Hippos) and Daniel Wonacott (Senses Fail, Finch) and is accompanied by an equally impressive music video directed by Kate Alden.

Speaking about the new single, Jason Nott says, “Songwriting can be a vulnerable process because I never want to hurt anyone's feelings, but at the same time, it can be cathartic to channel my darkest secrets into pop songs. I like that the track will make you dance but also brings about a lyrical depth that many of us can resonate with. It’s been an incredibly humbling journey into new territory. I feel like my debut as a solo artist has brought about the most raw version of me.”

Recounting the creation of the single, Jason continues, “I wrote the song after spending a few weeks in isolation in a cabin in the mountains of Southern California during the summer of 2020. I eventually recorded the track with the help of two producer friends: Daniel Wonacott and Rich Zahniser. I played all of the instruments on the song.” “I Was Dating All My Friends” is available to buy/stream now on all platforms.
