Gifted hip-hop beatsmith J. Depina guides listeners on a trip down Memory Lane with his stunning, nostalgic new instrumental album. Throughout the 22 tracks on here, the producer pulls you in with a wealth of warm tones, clever samples, and head-nodding drums—essentially, he delivers everything you’d want from a project like this.

As soon as “Follow The Rhode” bumps out of your speakers, Depina’s intent becomes clear with the aptly titled Memory Lane. He set out to craft keys-heavy, melodic tunes that you can play in the background or sit with and focus on, all while they build a soundscape made for cozy lounge sessions.

The Pawtucket, R.I. native also spelled out his goals with this project when we spoke with him on its creation. "When I was making this album, I was in a real relaxed state, so my focus was to find all kinds of stuff to chop up that was soothing and laid back,” Depina says. “I wanted to bring the listeners back to those times when you were a kid and times were simpler."

You’ll be instantly transported back to those days while running through immediate standouts like the wholesome “Mama’s Boy,” low-key “Blueberry Hill,” and the bustling title track. It’s pure ear candy, made for shorter days and longer nights when all you want is a warm drink in your hand.

Memory Lane is available now through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms via Crisis Center Collective. And if you want more from Depina, be sure to hit up his Instagram profile and check out his producer series to see interviews with the likes of Apollo Brown and Ski Beatz.
